My Laptop, February 8, 2012 This review is from: Acer Aspire TimelineX AS4830TG-6808 14-inch Laptop (Cobalt Blue) (Personal Computers) This is a great laptop, with lighting fast speed while doing pretty much anything, cool little gadgets like a 3.0 usb port, wi-di, and power off charging which I utilize a lot, very convenience little thing in my opinion. I did my research before finally deciding on this laptop, took me 3 months to finally decide on this particular Acer Timelinex. I enjoy the 14'' LED HD display, 15.4'' is just too big now a days. Movies and videos look great, the speakers are top notch as I am a little sound freak and it sounds great. It can run games like Dead Space 2 on the highest settings with no lag, I upgraded the ram to 8 GB. I'm just gonna keep it simple and sweet, this Acer is lighting fast in pretty all aspects you can find in a computer, the cobalt blue looks and feels great, and it easily transportable and light weight as it weighs less than 4 or 5 pounds. I purchased this laptop a few days ago and received it on Saturday, so being that today is Tuesday, I haven't had a lot of time to do a thorough review.
I ran 3DMark 11 and 7. It didn't seem to run well on 3D Mark 11, but I confess, I didn't really look to see if that one was appropriate. I think it got around a 2300 on 3DMark7. Also, not sure how well the graphics switching is working, since I haven't been able to mess with the setting. I know you can set it to always be on.
I haven't installed any of my PC games on it yet, so I'll test more of that later. Also, I've only streamed a little content, but have had no issues. Based on how this thing is spec'ed out, I don't for see any issues with HD streaming or processor heavy tasks, since this is by far the strong suit of this computer. Windows experience gives it a 7 for processor.

However, after the latest HP laptop (DV6t) died after always getting too hot and being too heavy, we decided to take a chance on an Acer product. Researched many 14" laptops in the $500-800 range and decided that this one best fit the bill due to characteristics that are usually found in more expensive laptops. It arrived today very well packaged. Took it out and within 15 minutes the updates were done, wifi connection made, and it was up and running. Why we picked this one?
1) Battery life
2) 2nd gen Intel Core I5 processor
3) NVIDIA Optinus technology
4) USB 3.0 port
5) Does not get too hot (at least that's what the reviews say)
1st impressions: Well built, nice color (cobalt), very speedy, nice keyboard, beautiful screen, minimal bloatware, great battery, nice mouse-pad....will be able to provide a more complete review after a couple of weeks. Overall, this is a fine machine.
