Acer AS5250-BZ669 vs. other acer/hp I've owned, November 26, 2011 By DeeLaM (TAMIL VA USA) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Acer AS5250-BZ669 15.6-Inch Laptop (Personal Computers) I bought this laptop on Nov 22 from one of the gold box deals & got it on the 25 (Amazon = awesome). $330 (or any price less than $500) for a Win 7, 15.6" 4GB DDR3 blah blah specifications that you can see above plus DVD drive, webcam & good quality integrated speakers really is a superb deal. Seeing as most folks know the benefits of these specs I'll focus on the stuff that surprised me about this machine.
1. The keyboard on this baby is full-sized i.e., it includes a numeric keypad just like a regular desktop key board - I award extra points for this - with others I've owned I had to buy a separate keyboard or keypad to accommodate number crunching.
2. Monitor size is wider than my old hp dv6500 series which is a 15.6" entertainment pc. I don't understand why both pc's are advertised as 15.6" but when I held up this machine with the hp there is at least a one inch difference - same height but wider screen on the Acer - does not fit into my regular-sized... It has 4gb of Ram and a 500gb hdd. Plenty of storage and speed for any person who just browses the web, photo editing, light gaming, etc.

The most important specs when purchasing a Laptop are the Processor, RAM, and Hard drive Memory and while looking for a laptop I found that for the $350 to $500 price range most brands offer relatively the same specs. They have between 14.1 to 15.4 inch screens, this one has a 15.6 and is LED back-lit. They also usually have between 250GB to 320GB hard drives and 2GB to 3GB of RAM. This model has a 500GB hard-drive and 4GB-DDR3 RAM, this is a welcome increase to this price range that you wont find on most models... If you run a lot of "process heavy" programs and need them to run at the same time this RAM amount is quite important and this model can be upgraded up to 8GB-DDR3 RAM if you need more...
After that it gets pretty simple, the finish is very nice... Read more
